Continuum Residence
Miami Beach, Florida
At the request of the new owner, the project involved an overhaul of an early-2000s apartment building on South Beach. The kitchen layout was updated with the insertion of a central island, dividing it from the open-plan living room, requiring extending plumbing from the nearest wall.
A Gaggenau appliance suite forced the relocation and resizing the central HVAC unit. The creation of cove ceilings signal informal thresholds within otherwise continuous spaces, also allowing for the installation of warm indirect lighting to combat the cool tones of the white marble floors. Walls have been finished in white-washed wood slats to soften the elevator lobby.
